About:

This is submission for the GMTK game jam 2023. The theme was "Roles Reversed". My idea is that in a classic (hexagon-tiled) 4X game one of the main mechanic is to expand a territory by obtaining control of tiles.

In this game you control a tile instead a "rogue" tile which don't want to be part of a player's territory.

State:

The game is somewhat playable but not that fun...

How to play:

Your goal is to avoid being conquered by the player, they will expand their territory trying to obtain you.

During your turn you can click on a nearby not-conquered tile to exchange position, obtaining magic points doing so. You can exchange position with any type of tile but the mountains block you.

Magic points allow you to liberate conquered tile, liberate all the castles on the map to win. You can also teleport to any not-conquered tile.

The amount of magic points you own is displayed in the top-left of the screen, above the counter you can see which turn it is. You can't play during player's turns.

By default left click allow you to exchange position or "move" to a nearby tile. You case use the buttons on the bottom-left of the screen to do another action. When teleporting or liberating a tile, right click to undo and return to the "move" action.

The color of the ring on the tile you hover show you if your action is currently possible. Red -> cannot do, White -> can do. When hovering a tile with an action the amount of magic you will gain by moving on this tile is displayed. For teleporting or liberating, the amount of magic you will lose is displayed.

fullscreen is better ;).
